How to dispose of your electrical appliances

All electrical and electronic equipment must be collected separately from general waste and standard (mixed) recycling via a bulky waste collection booked via this link.

All electrical items collected will be safely dismantled and recycled. Information on producer responsibility for electrical waste can be found here.

Other options:

Before considering disposal please consider repair. Companies exist that are happy to repair a range of large electrical items. Manufacturers also often offer a free of charge take-back scheme. Please see here for information.

If your electrical item is small please visit one of our several bring banks. More information on this is available here. We can accept the items in the small appliances recycling bins as long as they fit through the 40 cm chute. We can’t accept these items at the bring bank:

  • TV monitors
  • Computers*
  • Light bulbs
  • Batteries
  • Anything that will not fit in the chute (over 40 cm in size)

Items that can be collected via our bring banks include:

  • Mobile phones
  • Electrical office products like calculators
  • Lamps
  • Keyboards and mice
  • Printers
  • Transformers
  • Speakers
  • Faxes
  • Adapters

* Although computers can be recycled in these bins, there have been cases of theft from these bins. We are not liable for the theft of personal data from your equipment if placed in the recycling bins.
