How to dispose of wire hangers
Coat, clothes and wire hangers should never be put into the mixed recycling. They will jam sorting machinery and conveyors at the MRF which separates mixed recycling. Coat and clothes hangers are also made of materials like molded polystyrene, polypropylene or wood which can’t be recycled.
That’s why all types of hangers are general waste and go in the red waste bags or container. This means they will go for energy recovery where any metals parts are extracted for recycling after the combustion process.
